#Juneathon 2013 : Day 1 : Race for Life

Day 1 of Juneathon and my first ever Race For Life done.

I had a goal to do it in between 35 to 40. I crossed the finish line in 39:30. When I saw that 39 on the clock I sprinted with everything I had left.

I hadn’t run a 5k in my training. Only up to 4k and I also knew I hated running on grass but was pleased when they started talking about running on the road. However between 2/3k was grass and between 3.5/4.5k was grass and I struggled like hell. I ended up walking for a few hundred metres which I was annoyed at doing but I really find running on grass bloody tough.

But. I completed it and that’s the main thing. I want to work on my speed through juneathon and aim to be running a 5K in 30 minutes would be nice but possibly unrealistic for me I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s a goal.

  1. Well done for completing the Race for Life. I’m sure that by the end of Juneathon, you’ll have put enough exercise in to get under your 30 minute target time. The main thing is to enjoy it though. Good luck!
