So yesterday morning I decided to take a Edinburgh Marathon place. Thats 12 weeks away. I know I can already run 13.1 miles. Because I did it. I did that on Sunday. So now I just have to up that distance.
I’m torn between two plans at the moment. The Hal Higdon Novice 2 and the Runners World Smart Coach.
I used Hal Higdon for my half marathon training. Its nice and simple. No complicated speed work. (But I sort of want speed work) works on 4 runs a week which is what I ideally want to keep at.
Smart Coach tells me what pace I should run at, I like that. Its only 3 runs a week. It contains complicated speedwork.
What I want is something that gives me four runs a week. Maybe one speed session. My one long run, and two easy runs. And one that tells me pace. I don’t like the idea of putting a plan together myself but think thats what I’m going to end up doing!
Who would have thought choosing a training plan would be so hard?!
